Lead Customers



The ACME Group is a leader in the field of innovative solutions for the wireless telecommunications industry, cold chain management systems, alternate energy and waste water treatment. 

In May 2008, Ballard signed a multi-year supply agreement with an affiliate of the ACME Group to provide fuel cells for backup power in the wireless telecom market.





Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Ballard are shareholders in AFCC Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation Corp. (AFCC), a private company focused on the development of hydrogen fuel cells for automotive applications.

AFCC will work closely with Daimler and Ford to evolve automotive fuel cell technology. AFCC will continue to be positioned for success in automotive fuel cell technology development over the longer term, with management and program funding provided by Daimler and Ford.

Ballard’s relationship with AFCC, and our minority ownership position in that company, confer important benefits to us, including –
  • AFCC is an important Ballard customer, to which we provide contract technical services and fuel cell manufacturing services on a profitable basis;
  • Ballard is permitted to use automotive fuel cell intellectual property owned and developed at AFCC, Daimler and Ford in non-automotive applications.




BAXI INNOTECH is a subsidiary of the British BAXI Group – one of the leading heating equipment manufacturers in Europe. BAXI INNOTECH is the brain pool of the Group for innovative product developments based on combined heat and power technology. Since September 2008, Hamburg-based BAXI INNOTECH has been participating in the Callux Project, the practice test of the German Federal government and industry in preparation for the market launch of fuel cell heating units.

In March 2009, Ballard entered into a three-year supply agreement with BAXI INNOTECH. Under the agreement, BAXI INNOTECH agreed to exclusively purchase Ballard fuel cells through to the end of Phase 2 of the Callux Project, scheduled to conclude in 2012.





FutureE Fuel Cell Solutions GmbH is a German company focused on innovative fuel cell systems and energy solutions. With the Jupiter product family, FutureE offers a solution designed to meet customer’s power supply needs in the most reliable, durable and scaleable way, using cutting-edge fuel cell system technology.

Ballard is currently supplying FutureE with the FCgen-1020ACS fuel cell product for integration into their backup power systems.




H2 Logic is a world leading developer of Motive Power Solutions consisting of a Fuel Cell Hybrid System and a supporting Hydrogen Refueling that can satisfy the need of motive power in transport applications.

In January 2008, Ballard signed a supply agreement with Danish system integrator H2 Logic A/S to supply fuel cells for products developed for the material handling market.





Heliocentris Fuel Cells AG, a leading fuel cell system integrator, delivers hydrogen and fuel cell educational products and training systems to leading-edge post-secondary institutions worldwide. In addition, the company delivers turnkey solutions on a project basis as well as customer tailored industrial systems. 

In April 2008, Ballard signed an agreement with Heliocentris to supply FCgen™-1020ACS fuel cell products for integration into Heliocentris’ fuel cell systems designed for training and industrial markets.  Please contact Heliocentris Fuel Cells AG for more information.





IdaTech is a global leader in the development of environmentally friendly fuel processing technology and fuel cell systems for stationary and portable electric power generation. IdaTech has extensive capability and experience in reforming fuel, such as methanol, and in systems integration.

In March 2008, Ballard signed an agreement with IdaTech to supply FCgen™-1020ACS fuel cell products for integration into IdaTech's next generation 250 watt iGen™ power supply. The product is designed as a backup power and auxiliary power unit for a number of applications.




ISE Corporation is a supplier of integrated hybrid-electric drive systems and control software for large buses and trucks. In addition to its principal business as a supplier of fully integrated drive systems to vehicle manufacturers, ISE installs its systems into buses, trucks and other vehicles on a smaller scale, demonstrating its drive systems in an ever-expanding variety of vehicle models.

Ballard is a member of a consortium that developed the BC Transit fuel cell fleet, with ISE Corporation supplying advanced electric drive and battery technology and New Flyer Industries integrating both the Ballard fuel cell module and the ISE electric drive into a transit bus platform.




New Flyer Industries is the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in the United States and Canada. New Flyer is a technology leader, offering the broadest product line in the industry, including drive systems powered by clean diesel, LNG, CNG, hydrogen fuel cell and electric trolley as well as energy-efficient gasoline-electric and diesel-electric hybrid vehicles.

In February 2008, Ballard signed a five-year agreement to supply fuel cell modules for use in New Flyer shuttle buses. As part of this agreement, the companies will also combine efforts toward the joint preparation of bids for transit agency shuttle bus programs. 
 

Plug Power

Plug Power Inc. is an established leader in the deployment of clean, reliable, on-site energy products. More than 600 Plug Power fuel cell systems have been delivered to customers worldwide in commercial, public sector, telecommunications, utility and uninterruptible power supply markets. Ballard is supplying Plug Power with fuel cell stacks for all Plug Power’s commercial sales in the material handling market.

Plug Power and Ballard are also working jointly to develop backup power solutions for telecommunications and other mission-critical applications for the U.S. Department of Defense’s ‘Continuity of Operations (COOP)’ initiative.
