BC Transit has deployed 20 hydrogen fuel cell hybrid buses as part of its fleet in Whistler, BC. The buses use Ballard’s FCvelocity-HD6 fuel cell module.

As part of the Western Australian Government’s commitment to working towards sustainable transport energy solutions in Western Australia, three zero-emission Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses, powered with Ballard® fuel cell technology, were in operation in Perth.

Thirty-six Ballard-powered fuel cell buses have operated on roads in Europe, Australia, China and the United States. Vehicles like this Mercedes-Benz Citaro bus (one of 33 in Daimler’s fuel cell bus fleet), are providing Ballard with valuable information about how fuel cell powered buses perform in different geographies and climates. Since January 2004, Ballard-powered buses have clocked more than 2 million kilometers, and have safely delivered more than seven million passengers to their destinations.

Fuel Cell Citaro

Three Mercedes-Benz Citaro fuel cell buses powered with Ballard heavy-duty fuel cell engines were launched in China during 2005. These buses were part of a two-year demonstration project led by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, with support from the Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Development Program.
