Marine Center of Excellence

In 2019 we established the Marine Center of Excellence in Hobro, Denmark where our fuel cell module FCwaveTM is designed and built. The Center is dedicated to the engineering, manufacturing and service of heavy-duty fuel cell modules specifically for the marine industry, and has an annual production capacity of more than 40 MW of fuel cell modules.
We collaborate closely with the marine industry to deliver reliable and innovative solutions that enables customers to meet requirements for zero-emission marine propulsion. |
Critical Communication Infrastructure Center of Excellence

We deliver fuel cell solutions for the critical infrastructure market with a special focus on telecommunication, fiber broadband and the TETRA networks. At our facilities in Hobro, Denmark we build the FCgen®-H2PM fuel cell system specifically designed for backup power.

Ballard Europe Customer Care

Ballard is committed to providing the highest level of service to our customers. Our mission is to improve the overall customer journey - from first contact through delivery and to after sales services.
As an example of our extensive customer care, we have established a team to support transit operators deploying fuel cell electric buses. Operating from Ballard Europe in Hobro, Denmark, our customer care team is committed to supporting Ballard-powered zero-emission FC applications in revenue service in Europe.

Management
Jesper Themsen, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Themsen has been President & CEO at Ballard Power Systems Europe A/S since 2011.
From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Themsen was Chief Technology Officer at Dantherm Power A/S, which has since become Ballard Power Systems Europe A/S, a leading provider of fuel cell systems. Before establishing Dantherm Power A/S, Mr. Themsen served as Manager of Business Development and Manager of Research & Development at Dantherm Air Handling A/S from 2000 to 2007.
Mr. Themsen holds a M.Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering and Thermal engineering from Aalborg University. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Management from Aalborg University, and has completed an Executive Leadership Development program with the Confederation of Danish Industry.
