Ballard’s material products division is a leading provider of gas diffusion layer (GDL) material and carbon friction materials. We are the only major producer of GDL material – a core fuel cell component – in the North American market. And, we are also proud to be a Tier 1 supplier of carbon friction material to the automotive industry.
We provide innovative rollable carbon fabrics, paper and nonwovens with carefully-engineered properties to match customer requirements. All our material products are developed and manufactured at our Lowell, MA facility, which is ISO 9001 and QS 9000 registered, as well as ISO/TS 169494 certified for quality.
