Theo Elmer is Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Systems at Ballard. He was previously Chief Technology Officer at GeoPura, where he led the development of the company’s hydrogen technologies and Hydrogen Power Unit portfolio, spanning hydrogen production, storage and distribution through to fuel cell power generation.

Theo has extensive experience in hydrogen, fuel cells and renewable energy systems, combining academic research with the development and deployment of commercial zero-emission technologies. His work has included the development of off-grid hydrogen power systems and hydrogen safety solutions for demanding applications across industry and transport.

Theo holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham, where his research focused on hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
