VANCOUVER, CANADA and SHENZHEN, CHINA – Ballard has participated in the “4th Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum”, held in Longgang District of Guangdong Province on June 17th and 18th. The Forum featured low carbon urban development and innovation technologies that are designed to tackle global environmental challenges.
In advance of the Forum Mr. Li Ganming, the Shenzhen Municipal Government’s Deputy Secretary General said, “Along with the main forum, 13 sub-forums, 3 seminars and various exhibitions and activities will be held, which will be attended by nearly 2,000 guests from 40 countries and regions.”
The Forum is aimed at promoting cross-border cooperation and was attended by entrepreneurs along with subject-matter experts. It was sponsored by the Shenzhen City Government and organized by the City’s Development and Reform Commission.
Guest speakers at the Forum included Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, Sha Zukang, United Nations former Deputy Secretary General and Nicolas Gorjestani, Senior Advisor to the World Bank. Representatives of the Province of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver also attended the event.
During the Forum, UpPowerTech – a fuel cell bus systems integrator – demonstrated a battery hybrid bus, using Ballard’s new FCveloCity
®-MD 30-kilowatt fuel cell power module as a battery range extender on board a 12-meter (40-foot) King Long after-market coach.
